Ok, so I've nagged the ears off anyone close to me recently and generally retreated back into my K-Dramas. I recently needed to have a good sort out of all my things in the attic and came across a treasures box that had all my old imported K-Dramas. I immediately fell back in love with them and have sought out new ones to attach myself heavily to.

I've wanted to practice my Korean as I am amazingly rusty which I was sad to find out. Since coming back to the U.K I have had little or no exchange with the language so it became patchy. This has done wonders for me, so in fact this has been a labor of love.

ALL IN (2003)- The absolute original for me. In 2003 i sat and watched it in Seoul as i was already trying to learn the language. Its beauty was so deep that their was no language barrier involved. It spoke to the romantic in you and took you along with it. I then brought it home and made my husband do the same years later. It has the original handsome guy of all in it Lee Byung-Hun and the story is just...oh man your in for a journey but its worth it. It has everything in it. The innocent beauty and the rugged bad boy separated so many times its agonizing but they always find their way back to each many first looks it breaks your heart!!

It is inspired by the life of professional poker player Jimmy Cha and starred Lee Byung-Hun (swooooon) in a story about one mans rise through the fiercely competitive world of casino gambling as he clashes with his rivals over money, success and love. YOU MUST WATCH THIS!

FALLING FOR INNOCENCE - (2015) HOLY PANTS..this one...This one gave me a heavenly muse in the form of Jung Kyung Ho. This guy needs to rule the acting world and pretty fast too. SO versatile a method that you feel for his anguish and understand his intentions and almost wish for him to find this new life even though he is a complete mentalist arse-hat..But his life is about to change in the form of a loyal and feisty secretary, Kim Soon Jung.

here is the official blurb...

"Can you personality and perspective on life change after getting a new heart? Kang Min Ho (Jung Kyung Ho) has been through a difficult time when his father suddenly died and his fathers company was taken over by his uncle and he was kicked out. But after he undergoes a heart transplant, Min Ho begins to learn what teh meaning of true happiness and love is, especially after he begins to fall for his secretary, Kim Soon Jung (Kim So Yeon). But when Joon Hee (Yoon Hyun Min) also falls for Soon Jung, will Mon Ho have to fight for what he really wants?"

This is one of the most amazing feel good TV shows i have ever watched. Its absolutely bat shit insane but scores a home run for the nerds and eccentric gals like us out there!

Here is the blurb bit!

"Yoo-Jin (Joo Won) is a university student majoring in piano. He has a world famous pianist father, exceptional music talent and attractive appearance, but his one weakness is that he can't ride in an airplane or boat due to a childhood trauma. Because of his phobia, Yoo-Jin is unable to travel to Europe to learn conducting even though he badly wants to become a conductor.

One day, Yoo-Jin gets drunk and falls asleep on the doorstep of Nae-Il (Shim Eun-Kyung). She lives next door to Yoo-Jin. The next morning, he wakes up and finds himself in a room full of trash and he sees Nae-Il. Nae-Il falls in love with him and follows him around. Nae-Il is also a piano major and takes lessons from Professor Ahn Gun-Sung (Namgung Yeon). Yoo-Jin is soon assigned to take lessons from Professor Ahn Gun-Sung as well. His arrogance has led him to take lessons from Professor Ahn Gun-Sung rather than Professor Do Gang-Jae (Lee Byung-Joon) who is renown for instructing many famous pianists. Professor Ahn Gun-Sung then assigns Yoo-Jin to perform a piano duet with Nae-Il. At first, Yoo-Jin insists that Nae-Il follows his instructions, but he soon changes and accepts her way to play the piano.

Yoo-Jin then hears that world-famous conductor Franz Stresemann (Baek Yoon-Sik) will be coming to his university. Yoo-Jin is ecstatic, because he can learn from Franz Stresemann without going to Europe. Yoo-Jin is unaware though that Franz Stresemann dislikes his father and his famous childhood musical instructor Vieira."

HEIRS - (2015) Ok so we are starting at the back here. This was the first in what has become a solidified full on love affair with Lee Min Ho for me. If you start here will probably end that way for you too. That boy can do the teary eyed, good haired  ass kicking sad-face like NO ONE...NO ONE!!!...but seriously the hair..

Min Ho plays Kim Tan, a privileged spoilt boy exiled by his family for being a bastard in a power play war. He is sent abroad where he comes across a fellow Korean girl who finds herself stranded. He puts his guard down and falls for her and whilst she knows that as she is poor she should remember her place and stay away but often dreams of the days she spent with him in the states. As fate has it her mother is the housemaid of his mother in Korea and they soon find themselves back in each others lives when he is called back to Korea by his father, Destined to be together they need to break down the walls put their by their social standings and families. Its a beautiful story played beautifully by the now well seasoned Lee Min Ho.

A great young cast brought this together and it also introduced me to Kim Woo-Bin who is on my "watch" list now. you will love it.

BOYS OVER FLOWERS - (2009) The original was Japanese but for me..this is the upmost Korean Drama there will ever be. Its life changing and yes once again it has Lee Min Ho in. Hair not so great this time but those sad ass kicking eyes are out.

“Boys Over Flowers” is one of the biggest Korean drama hits of our time, sweeping ratings and awards across Asia in 2009 and 2010. This Korean take on the popular Japanese manga of the same name tackles complex issues involving outcasts, socio-economic disparity, family, love and friendship. Jan Di is my inner spirit animal and i will adore her forever! She is an average girl whose family owns a dry cleaning store located near the luxurious and well-known Shin Hwa High School.

"After saving a boy from jumping off the roof of Shin Hwa High School, Jan Di is admitted into the school on a swimming scholarship. At school, Jan Di tries to avoid confrontation with the four richest and most spoiled boys known as the F4, because she knows what happens to those that stand up against them. However, when Jan Di's friend, Oh Min Ji, accidentally gets ice cream on the F4 leader’s shoes, she is forced to declare war on the leader of the F4, Goo Joon Pyo. What will happen, though, when she falls in love with someone from the F4 and Goo Joon Pyo starts developing feelings for her, too? Will the love triangle disrupt the F4 and change their lives forever? "

Lets take a moment to talk about Gu Joon Pyo. Oh my goodness, this poor bunny. You will attach yourself to him whole heartily for all his flaws you understand why they are there especially with his bitch mother. Jan Di comes to adore him and fight for him and if they had more time you would have seen the ending we all know would happen. Still worth the journey though..BEAUTIFUL!

FAITH - (The Great Doctor 2012) Brings us on to our next Lee Min Ho outing. A perido Drama set 700 years ago in Goryeo.

"A modern-day surgeon is kidnapped and taken back 700 years to the Goryeo Dynasty in Korean history. Admiral Choi Young, a warrior, abducts Dr. Eun Soo and returns to his time period so that the doctor can save the injured Princess No Guk. Can Dr. Eun Soo do what is being asked of her and return to her own time period? Or will she have faith in her heart and stay in the past to help the king become a better ruler who cares for and heals his people?"

An amazingly heart warming story that grabs all the comedy of the 20th century and combines it with the beauty of the Goryeo dynasty. The set, costumes and actors are absolutely sublime and the fight sequences are outstanding. This is a great little watch and in my opinion miles better then Min Ho hair is back to amazeballs quality.

City Hunter (2011) - Ok, so don't get sad this is out last Lee Min Ho for a while as that guy is BUSY! will all be pleased to know..the hair is on form as is the action sequences and script.

If your a fan of the comic you will know City Hunter and whilst it isn't strictly sticking to canon its a great start for him. Lee Min Hos future as an action star has to be complete in this as we await the Bounty Hunter film due this year.

"This intense, beautifully shot romantic thriller loosely based on a manga of the same name by Tsukasa Hojo, is a revenge drama done right. In 1983, 21 South Korean military operatives are sent into North Korea on a secret mission. After completing their mission, they are executed by their own side in a government cover-up. The sole survivor, Lee Jin Pyo, watches as his closest friend dies beside him. Taking his friend's son under his wing, Jin Pyo raises him as his own and trains him with one goal: to take revenge on the men responsible for this massacre. Some twenty years later, a brilliant young man joins the international communications team of the Blue House (Korea's White House). Lee Yoon Sung has but one mission in mind: to find and bring down the five men responsible for the murder of his father. To do so, he must hide his identity and fighting skills to infiltrate the government. During his quest for revenge, however, he also enacts justice, and is given the nickname City Hunter by the populace, who knows only of a shadowy figure exposing corruption in their city. Torn between his surrogate father's drive for vengeance and the innocent girl he loves, Yoon Sung must fight to survive, and choose the path he will take."

I still have so much to get through but for now, if you looking for a new addiction you MUST try out these listed above!

So this year i'm finally making time for the Uk Games Expo. When I say that I mean not to lounge about all day buying or playing games with the family..i'm going to volunteer.

I'm rather looking forward to it as I have been assigned an Ambassador at the NEC and i'll be there to warmly greet you in some fashion or other and bid you welcome...

The 10 years celebration will be held on the 3rd - 5th June at both the NEC and the Hilton hotel and promises to be amazeballs on many different levels. It promises to be huge fun and the lending library will also be back for you to borrow, play and return when you need a break and refreshments!

So if you're in Brum and need a game or two come along and i'll welcome you in..or about..or do a jig or something!

Firstly, I thought that at 36 I was never able to blush again. This book made this happen.
The world we live in is pretty shitty, let’s not pretend it isn’t. The places we grew up in are not the same anymore and the people are pissed off and angry. We use photo editors to make photos look happier and inject a bit of colour into the humdrum daily toll of life or if we feel we just can’t be bothered we grey scale them. Not to put a dampener on anything but we stroll through our daily lives accepting the quiet chaos that is bubbling under the surface. The riots…they were a perfect example of how quickly this country *if any* can erupt when it needs release, benefit streets and closures of N.H.S buildings, changes in government and the degradation of moral values and the respect for a child’s innocence have all piled up into something quite filthy and like a big black shadow its making its way through the cities into out quiet cul-de-sacs and homes.

Comics have turned in that direction over the years addressing all of societies issue and hang ups and those writers and artists with big enough balls to be unpopular and the talent to translate their gripes and observations have been welcomed by the reader who yearns for that dirty realism we crave. I, myself,  have found myself wandering the aisles for something that will explode with realistic shit all over my face, I realise that sounded unhygienic but I KNOW you get the picture as I’m sure you found your way here…expecting the same.
i thought about re-reading the same old Dickens worthy hardback graphic novels that seem to be flooding in bulk and then came across a little gem that gripped on to my attention and manifested itself nicely for the ride.

‘Death Sentence’ is published by Titan Comics and written by Monty Nero with Art work by Mike Dowling and lettering by Jimmy Betancourt.
This book highlights all that is wrong with society, governments and indeed the ‘celebrity’ infestation we obsess with. The world is going to shit and we don’t need much imagination for that. Every week we seem to hear about some issue of health that is spreading like wild fire with no known cure or prevention, we still don’t have a correct response to H.I.V . Death Sentence chucks another into the mix, The G+ virus.

The G+ Virus is you’re clocking out card but man you are going to go in style. I think I might want to go out this way. It’s not pleasant but at least I get to be something different for 6 months! It is a sexually transmitted disease that is rife among the “Britain’s hardest club towns” culture roaming free all over ITV2.  Sexual liberation has brought with it some consequences and you have two choices. Sit there and mope…or do something about it.
Once affected you begin to show extra normal abilities and this story follows three quite fucked up main characters all of which are hugely developed and relatable. In my mind I had a vision of who they reminded me of and once there I couldn’t shake it off.
I don’t want to give too much away but the sheer honesty of it all is overwhelming. The first pane is brutal and it’s all up hill from there. I have always felt sorry for the Pete Docherty’s of this world and not so much the Russell Brands *wink* and I saw them slapped all over this. They all have a price to pay for such a shitty use of life and now they are paying it. It’s almost like the devil has come collecting and all those who pished their life away are now being called up to Hells Gates. You want to like them you really do and you see so much more for them but the layer of self is always quite hard to break through.
Verity.  I like her; she has some amaze balls body ink. She is our young heroine *I’m not sure that’s quite the right word, her ex hates her but she is more or less getting on with it with gusto* A graphic designer who has made a stupid mistake. This mistake has led her down the G+ route and gifted her with a little extra kick. The one that can be reasoned with and the one who wants to make a difference, our bit of hope.

Weasel. I wanted to give him a bath but that is the mother in me. A Docherty like character whose record label drops him quite willingly when they could no longer profit through his imminent death.  Its not uncommon to see music celebrities misused and ruined by record labels and forced out with a level of popularity that it quite literally backfires morally and mentally. The one thing in life Weasel takes seriously, because let’s face it...he sucks at music, is his son. And this is a redeeming quality.
And let’s move on to our Anti-Hero…Monty *shudder* it has been a long time since I genuinely feared the ‘What if’ of a comic baddie. There are several key points in this project in which I sat open mouthed, the nun…the queen! One truly fucked up life that he doesn’t question as a catalyst only the way he wants to go out.  A misguided notion of helping  ‘free’ the people reminds me of the current wave of self-obsessed celebrity parading through comic circuits and t.v shows becoming the very thing they say they despise. Criticising religion and politics and encouraging rebellion and parades of anger, it’s ok to chuck a t.v through a shop window and steal a bag of rice because your only doing what you feel is right! I won’t lie I thought about Russell Brand through all of this and whilst he can write  a book dismissing his past because he has visited a guru in India, married a pop star then divorced a pop star all whilst doing some crazy arsed magniloquent Yoga positions is jaw dropping and infuriating. But we listen, we listen and we agree and when he posed the idea that perhaps we should all not vote…I almost found myself agreeing…UP THE ANARCHY!
Let’s face it. We all have thought about what we would do if we have a month to live. I personally would fuck up my works health and safety record of 456 days without an incident. I would then probably run up a bill on a credit card with Mickey Mouse. Chuck a bit of the super power life in with that and oh my god…I would be in heaven. I would choose to make a difference and this book makes me question just what that difference would be? If I had the power to make things better how far would I go and would I care if you disagreed?
The book is littered with great adages to suck you right into the world in which this virus exists the artwork is sublime and the attention to detail is a perfectionists wet dream. The replies, bubbles and dialogue of all characters and extras were spot on, poetic and flagrant. If you’re a screamer or prude then this is not the book for you but if you appreciate a modern comic from a team of modern artists and writers then my god you will love this book as much as me.
My collection is richer for it and my eyes are open wider.

EAST END LAMENTED - A very complicated mix of BAM IN YOUR FACE and witches

I hate this part.

I want to share with you what I've been writing for the last few months (YEAR) but I cant for fear that the inter-web and my happiness at finally concentrating on something longer then 5 seconds will ride you like a donkey.

I cannot tell you how many times I have heard people say "wait a minute..isn't that mine?" when the world goes bananas over a new book or piece of graphic art. But lets face it I have a big mouth and I cant keep it shut plus I'm yearning for feedback so I want to share with you my opener and my artist shots of a few of our E.E.L.S

….Date...who knows...TBA

I have been given some paper and a rock of charcoal, how they love to spoil me now I am holding all the cards so I will write to you from the past small one so that you may know who I was and since I never had any mind to watch my mouth when you arrived I will only lightly apologise for what you are about to read but perhaps in all honesty maybe an age restriction should be placed as in conclusion, my dear, your mother was a truly wicked witch and of that you should believe all the fucking hype.

So I'm hoping to have the final proof read completed shortly and then..who knows!

I feel much better now.

TASTE BUD DIARIES: 15 on the corner - lichfield

My culinary taste buds recently took me , quite by accident, to a nice little place just opened up in Bore Street, Lichfield.

Myself and the old girl walked about a bit looking for something not too heavy but yet filling to snack on, as usual and our footsteps came across this little hidden gem which was in the form of 15 on the corner.

Now don't get me wrong I have seen it there before but its a funny thing isn't it coffee houses? you feel somewhat loyal to the small one you have been venturing to for the past year and worry that they will see you go in and write your name on a special blackboard of doom? so, literally, sneaking in we perused the special board and thought we would give it a go.

On immediately entering the place I was immersed in its Modus Operandi and the sweet music wafted around the small space making you feel very much like a Moroccan bizarre was tempting you with its wares. the d├ęcor was fresh and modern but very low-key and all you needed to know is that the coffee machine was up to its fine range of beans on the menu!

(I'm rather daft like that, I judge a person on their front room curtains and a coffee shop on its machine...)

I found a large comfortable table and proceeded to get my mothers worried look more soothed with the specials on offer. That day they had the pulled pork or pulled chilli brisket up for grabs and we opted for one of both...OF COURSE WE DID! accompanied by a flat white and a elderberry water we slowly started to relax as we waited for our grub.

The service was friendly and full of cheer but busy and one point I even saw one member make some guests more comfortable by rearranging a selection of tables for them and I could easily see why some people take advantage of the free wi-fi and sit around for a few hours.

When our food arrived (in not too long a time I might add although drinks were naturally a little slower) we were so very surprised. My mothers reservations were the usual two things:

* The bun they used would be stone cold
* The plate would be swamped in food that would not be eaten

So lets address her two issues. The bun was not cold. it was a beautiful Brioche that stood up to the test of her chilli brisket AND home made 'slaw. she was immensely pleased to note that they had toasted this, as she points out it makes all the difference to her and in fact the meal. I sampled a piece of her dish and whilst I'm not brave enough for the kick she agreed that it planted a warm kiss in your chest and she ploughed on quite happily. The food was not sparse but just the right amount of portion for the price of £6.95.

My dish was the whammy. I had the pulled pork and it was...brilliant. For a while I was stuck for words to finally find a cafe in my own town that FINALLY provided a satisfactory southern American dish in just the right way. You could taste that this pork had been cooking for the five or six hours needed for such a dish and the marinade of BBQ sauce they used was fabulous. Once again a kick to the taste buds is received after each mouthful was consumed by the handy and very clever dish accompaniments of home made Slaw and a gherkin.

The tri-fecta of taste is succulent and sweet and by the time you have finished your dish you are fully disappointed its over. The sour of the bbq with its hidden sauce and the creaminess of the coleslaw held together with an artisan roll (toasted) were perfectly partnered with the pickle and is one of those things you just have to try to believe...and try it we suggest you do.

Hungry Hobbit rating 9/10 , only missing a point because we had to wait a little for our drinks BUT we have a saying in our house now which always accompanies a good meal find and its the regular 9pm sigh of "ooh i could murder a 15" ...we will be back for more, check out what's on offer on their website and pop along yourself I'm eager for their brownies..let me know if you have one.

Its so hard to find a sturdy butler for one's budding crime fighters.

Not much has changed. My love for Our Lord Batman gets me through many days and Dark Knights (see what i did there).
Short of naming my child after the alter-ego GENIUS! (truth is my husband didn't sit too well with Batman Hicks) i have thought about employing a butler for him.
Now, on SERIOUSLY considering this i applied and had to answer a barrage of questioning which on reflection didn't go down to well It went a little something like this:
Ms Butler agency lady : Are you clear about what you expect your potential butler to do before you begin the search and interviewing process. Tasks include arranging dinner parties, looking after your yacht, making travel arrangements, maintaining the household budget, looking after visitors, doing the laundry, getting the kids off to school, tending the garden, and directing other workers in the household. Many butlers double as a personal assistant, handling correspondence and coordinating your calendar.
Moi : That all sounds great but do your staff help maintain underground caverns recently renovated into you follow?
Ms Butler agency lady : ...not really...Do you mean basement organising?
Moi : could say that. How are your staff at repairing and maintaining highly complicated pieces of technology and having a tinker with a few battle ready forms of transport?
Ms Butler agency lady : Im not sure we have many members of our agency that are mechanics..
Moi : I'm not looking for mechanics, but can i ask if i pay extra are they willing to change their name by deed-poll? I would also like to know how qualified they are at suggesting to their young charge the proper way in spending his inheritance of about 50p should his parents be shot dead in a dingy alley-way after attending an opera and getting lost.
Ms Butler Agency : ..Is this a joke hahaha..ha..
Moi : ..being shot in an alleyway?..Do you consider fighting evil and crime a joke?
Ms Butler Agency : ..Not normally no.
Moi : ..You voted Labour didn't you?...
Ms Butler Agency : ..May i ask how old your son is?
Moi : and a half.
Ms Butler Agency : ..May i recommend a nanny service instead perhaps.
Moi : ..Nanny Service? Does my son look like Count Duckula?..GOOD DAY!
Good grief is it too much to ask?

A bit of Pesto..alot of Puff.

So, The first (almost) week back at work has occurred and with a new one starting tomorrow I've been in the kitchen again readying my wares for my guinea pigs (sorry family members) with a glass of Brandy and adventurous taste-buds.

Today's tip is the delightful Pesto Rosso Serrano Puff.

I ready roll slab of Puff Pasty
1 Jar of Aldi Pesto Rosso
1 Portobello Mushroom
4 slices Serrano Ham
8 Slices of Choriizo
Grated Cheddar
Goats Cheese

1. So first thing is first, pre-heat oven to 200c
2. Get a flat baking tray and place your unrolled puff pasty sheet on it. Don't worry about any hiccups or tears.
3. Take three spoonfuls of Pesto Rosso and spread like you would a tomato sauce or Passatta on any normal pizza as in essence this is just what we are going to make..just a bit posher. if you want more then of course do so.
4. Take your Chorizio slices and lightly cover the base. It all accords on your taste buds but rough pulled Chorizio of a higher calibre is also delicious. I have even substituted this for Cabanos before and the end result is equally as stellar.
5. Roughly pull your slices of ham apart and chuck (literally) all over the Pastry, do the same with your mushroom.
6. Sprinkle your cheese over and then slice or tear a few pieces of goats cheese or buffalo mozzarella.
7. Put it in the oven for about 15 minutes or until pastry is golden brown all over.
8. Remove from oven and tart it up with your rocket sprigs, we also drizzle Maple Syrup as it releases the flavour of the goats cheese and rocket.
9. Cut into smaller squares and then nosh nosh nosh until all gone.

This is a great and quick lunch type meal after coming back from a long walk as we did today. As your dog dries off and someone cracks open a bottle of home made wine you can snuggle up and get puff pastry everywhere.

Definitely a family favourite and once again open to adaptation. Simple produce you have in your cupboards anyway makes this a 20 minute meal at about £2.00 with ingredients you can use in other meals.
